Crispy Baked Tofu

Serves 3-4

​

Ingredients:

1 Block                    Extra firm tofu

1 Tbsp                      Canola oil

1 Tbsp                      Toasted sesame oil

1 Tbsp                      Dark soy sauce

1 Tbsp                      Cornstarch

1 Tbsp                      Toasted sesame seeds

2 Tbsp                      Panko breadcrumbs

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 375° and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Remove tofu from package and pour away water. Line a plate with a few paper towels and wrap the tofu up in them. Place something heavy (like a pan or casserole dish) on top to press the water out. Let the tofu drain for at least 20 minutes.

  3. Dice the tofu to your desired size and add to a mixing bowl. Drizzle on the canola oil, sesame oil, and soy sauce and mix gently.

  4. Sprinkle the cornstarch, sesame seeds, and panko over the tofu and gently toss until evenly coated.

  5. Spread tofu evenly onto the lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Flip the tofu and bake for an additional 10-20 minutes until it is golden brown on all sides.

  7. Add to your favorite rice and veggies and enjoy!
